SmartSign Works to Curb Texting and Driving

Sign company donates 1,000 stickers to help Georgia High School
BROOKLYN, N.Y., Sept. 17, 2013 -- SmartSign donated 1,000 stickers to the Locust Grove High School in Locust Grove, Georgia in an effort to curb texting and driving. This marks the company's first donation of the school year as they continue to provide free materials for schools to raise awareness and prevent tragedies.
Alex Roitman, Outreach Manager at SmartSign, said, "We are very happy to continue our 'No Texting and Driving' school campaign with Locust Grove High School. We hope these stickers will improve visibility in their campaign and spread awareness along with efforts by the faculty."
"As a sign company, we believe 'Don't text and drive' should be a message just as important as 'No Parking,’" said Blair Brewster, CEO of SmartSign. "We know 68 percent of young drivers from 18 to 20 are willing to answer incoming phone calls on some, most, or all driving trips(i). We are happy to provide our decals."
The company has over 25 no texting and driving signs available. The signs come made to order and customizable. In addition, there are a variety of labels and stickers that also encourage individuals to drive without distraction.
Casie Jones, Media Paraprofessional for Locust Grove High School said, "Car decals are a great way to keep an important conversation going even when no one is talking. When students see their peers, coaches, or even strangers with messages branded on their cars they are bound to read what they say. Hopefully this message will be one that students read and act upon in a positive way."
SmartSign is a supporter of safe driving and has donated to MADD's "Tie One For Safety" campaign in the past. The company has donated to schools in Louisiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Virginia in the past.
