While Lithium Ion Battery Exit Signs have various advantages like high energy density and handling many charge/discharge cycles, signs with such batteries are sensitive to high temperatures. If the battery is completely discharged, the Exit Sign can no longer be recharged. Also, it is relatively expensive. That said, charging a lead-acid battery can take more than 10 hours, whereas lithium-ion batteries just take anywhere between a few minutes to 3 hours to charge, depending on the size of the battery.
