Pictograms are optional on braille signs. When used, these must be at least 6" high, and the equivalent verbal description must be placed directly below the pictogram along with the accompanying Grade 2 Braille. As per the 2010 ADA Standards For Accessible Design, the characters on ADA signs, including braille signs, must be in upper case and use a sans serif or a simple serif font. The font can be no less than 5/8" high and no more than 2" high for room signs. The overhead signs require fonts that are at least 3" high.
