Road Construction Signs

Orange construction signs are the MUTCD-designated color for temporary traffic control (Section 6F.02), while yellow is used for permanent warnings. Orange indicates an active, short-term work zone and matches other work-zone equipment. We offer fluorescent-orange sheeting for maximum visibility during the day and at dawn or dusk.

According to MUTCD Table 6F-1, sizes vary by road type: 48" x 48" for freeways and expressways, 36" x 36" or 24" x 24" for conventional roads, and a minimum of 30" x 30" for most diamond TTC signs. We stock these standard sizes and offer extra-large signs up to 6 feet for high-speed highways.

Each marks a stage of the zone: Construction Ahead warns of the work, Lane Closed and Flagger signs manage traffic through it, Detour and Road Closed route around it, and speed and entrance signs control the site. Because the MUTCD standardizes them, the same sign means the same thing on every road.

Signs warn; channelizing devices steer. Pair your signs with orange traffic cones, barrels and drums, and barricades to mark the taper and work space, and use flashing arrow boards or portable message trailers for lane closures on higher-speed roads.
