Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How is a 30.06 sign different from a 30.07 sign?
A 30.06 sign forbids people from carrying a concealed handgun into a property, in compliance with Section 30.06 of the Penal Code. On the other hand, a 30.07 sign created as per Section 30.07 of the Penal Code prohibits people from entering a property with an openly carried handgun. Properties often post both the signs to keep their premises gun-free.
You may find more information about these sections here.
Q. Is posting gun signs a legal requirement in Texas?
Yes, it is. Texas gun laws require properties to post appropriate gun warning signs if they want to restrict the presence of guns on their premises. The law identifies signs as a notice indicating that firearms are prohibited on the property. The wording of signs and other requirements are also provided in the State laws.
Q. What does a 51% sign mean?
51% signs in Texas are used by alcoholic beverage retailers to prohibit guns on their property. Establishments licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for on-premise consumption and whose alcohol sales are more than 50% of their gross receipts are required to post this sign to comply with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission requirements.
Q. Where should a Texas gun sign be placed?
Texas gun signs should be placed conspicuously at all entrances such that these are clearly visible to the public. You may mount your sign on a wall or fence at the entrance, use a portable gun prohibition sign, or install adhesive floor signs that are hard to miss.
Q. What is the outdoor life of your Texas gun signs?
63 or 80 mil thick, rustproof aluminum signs are designed to last over ten years outdoors, while the SlipSafe floor signs have an outdoor life of over 2 years and come with an anti-skid laminate. We also offer laminated plastic labels that will last you for over five years and portable BigBoss signs that promise good water and chemical resistance with an outdoor life of more than three years.
